INTERNSHIP SIGN-UP

Beauty for Freedom supports a year-round internship program centered around the academic calendar. It offers a variety of unpaid semester internship positions that provide a unique opportunity for experience and expansion of knowledge in the non-profit world. Interns have the chance to work under the direct supervision of an experienced Beauty for Freedom Executive Board Member to help guide their development of skills within their chosen field. Their work focuses on the advancement of important strategic projects.

Remote and NYC Internship positions are currently available. Interns work a minimum of 8 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours a week.

Eligibility

  1. Candidates must be an actively enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
  2. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States
  3. Candidates must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate (this is only needed when an internship is offered).

PLEASE NOTE: An individual who is not enrolled as a student or is not able to receive credit may still apply to an internship but will be re-classified as a skilled volunteer.

Internship Period

Fall Semester: September to December
Spring Semester: January to May
Summer Semester: June to August

INTERN POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Grant Proposal Writing: rewrite and write passionate promotion messaging geared toward donors, write compelling call to action membership content, research available and applicable grants, research and apply for Corporate Giving Programs, create spreadsheet outlining grantor requirements and application deadlines, assist in compliance and reporting requirements for grantors/funders, draft full grant proposals for submission, write solicitations for potential donors, write compelling nonprofit documents in preparation for grant, write content and articles for the website, write articles for eNewsletter and send out via Constant Contact, write text for posters, flyers, brochures, pamphlets, informational materials and for materials which will be distributed to the general public, research news items and articles that relate to Beauty for Freedom’s mission and underscore the importance of our mission.

 

Research (Travel Abroad Programming Only): designing and conducting an intensive research project either with our staff or in the field. While we have specific research needs, we welcome proposals from all interested individuals and teams from the baccalaureate through doctorate levels.

 

Partnerships & Fundraising: researching and cultivating partnerships with US corporations and potential patrons/supporters, contributing to fundraising proposals, and working with current event partners to support event pre-production needs.

 

Advocacyassisting our Director of Communications and Partnerships by collaborating on our yearly advocacy programming and campaigns – researching, writing policy papers, and meeting with project partners.

 

Marketing & PR: take over content creation for all of our Beauty for Freedom social media accounts, including organizing cross-platform content strategies, develop new social media campaigns from the ground up, considering our organizational needs and our advocacy campaign schedule, monitor social channels for trending news in the abolitionist movement (for innovative ideas and original content creation), then capitalize on those trends through our social media accounts, provide actionable tips and advice for expanding Beauty for Freedom’s reach in the digital space, assist with capturing and analyzing social media metrics.
