Begin Transmission Art Show

Begin Transmission Art Show

Brooklyn, New York is a place that is bursting with amazing artists!

It’s not unusual for people to go out on the weekend and spend a few hours at various studios causally partaking in what is known as “gallery hopping”.

Arriving at Be Electric Studio, one was instantly immersed in the work of two local artists, Tim Okamura and Chris Marshall, while soft music played in the background. Drinks were provided courtesy of MYX Fusions and the bar was a hopping place all evening!

The duo’s show, entitled “Begin Transmission”, showed beautifully diverse and poignant paintings by Okamura and intriguing found object sculptures by Marshall along with a couple of artist collaborations between the two. It was a great show that blended perfectly two different styles of art into a masterful piece of storytelling that was contemporary and modern.

The opening was also a fundraiser for local anti-trafficking non-profit Beauty For Freedom. One notable guest was celebrity photographer Jonathan Mannion, who came out to show support to the artists and Beauty For Freedom. Guests were also able to enjoy free make-overs done by makeup artist Kennie Nicole Jenkins at the Beauty for Freedom “Beauty Bar” as well as get their picture taken by a professional photographer Jay L.A. Bastien in her signature photo-booth.

During the evening to help support Beauty For Freedom, tote bags with a Tim Okamura original done with printing by prinkshop were sold.

Similarly Tim Okamura graciously put one of his paintings on silent auction with all proceeds going towards Beauty For Freedom.
