Beauty for Freedom Live Music Series Featuring Jennah Bell “Chapter 3: The Hatchet”

Tuesday, August 30th 8-11pm Beauty for Freedom Ambassador Ashley Ramos hosted “A Night of Music for Beauty for Freedom” at B99
Philadelphia-born, Berklee College of Music grad, soul-songstress, Nicky Egan produced this incredible night of music in support of New York based anti-trafficking non-profit Beauty for Freedom. This singer/songwriter has shared the stage with the likes of Eli “Paperboy” Reed and the legendary Charles Neville. Additional performances included Brooklyn-raised pianist/composer/singer Akie Bermiss, east coast songstress and Berklee College of Music Alumni Aria Christian and Oakland-grown singer/songwriter and Grammy Foundation summer program participant Jennah Bell Music. Jennah has shared the stage with artist such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Cody Chesnutt, Gregory Porter, Alice Smith, KING, and Eric Benet. Event guests feasted on treats donated by event sponsors BAKED while taking in the incredible sounds Noraas! Event sponsor and world-renowned designer to the stars Kevin Johnn Scheppman was in attendance and donated a beautiful gown as an auction item with proceeds going to Project India. Artists Whisbe Art, Ryan Foss-Skiftesvik and Kaiyu Huang donated artwork with all proceeds going to Beauty for Freedom.

The concert was a fundraiser for the Beauty for Freedom Arts Empowerment Initiative Project India, a workshop series created for the survivors of sex trafficking and at-risk youth of New Light Kolkata November 2016 led by teaching artists Jules Kim, Alessandro Simonetti, Suwana Perry, Ashley Loops, Whisbe Art, Pei Jung Wang, Monica Watkins, Scarlett De La Torre, Karen Francis and Tangina Tangina P. Stone. The workshop series is meant to help the youth and survivors creatively express themselves through arts therapy while discovering their potential, learning about and embracing their inner beauty and increasing their self-esteem.
